English Language Program

The English Language Program (ELP) at Cascadia Community College is an exceptional educational program where international students learn English.

For admission to ELP, no TOEFL or IELTS score is required but all students will sit for an English placement test when they arrive. ELP students begin in one of six levels. Each level may be completed in one academic quarter (11 week sessions). Students enroll in courses that cover Reading, Writing, Grammar, Listening and Speaking. Students in Levels 5 and 6 may also be eligible to enroll in some college-level courses. This allows students a comfortable “bridge” to help them transition into a full-time college program. Upon successful completion of Level 6, students begin taking full-time college courses, including English 101, the academic transfer English composition course.

Cascadia’s English Language Program recognizes that every student is unique, and the flexibility of Cascadia’s ELP allows students the opportunity to follow a path that is just right for them. The English Language Program also prepares students with the cultural and academic skills needed to succeed in academic credit classes.
